Missions

HHC has had a global focus from the beginning. Our founding Pastor, Rev. J. Harper Rose had a deep desire to invest in missions and felt compelled to share his burden with the congregation. He would place a large cardboard box on the altar and ask everyone to walk by during the offering and look in the box even if they did not have anything to give, thus demonstrating the need for missions giving. He would say “someday the box would be full.” Upon returning home, J. Hugh Rose continued in this tradition for over 35 years and commissioned a box constructed of wood and hand carved with a likeness of The Bridge of Love painting by Roger Debnar. This vision for missions continues today with Pastor Denney who is building on the Bridge of Love concept. He and the church are convinced that we must build a Bridge of Love not only to our foreign fields but also our families, our friends, and the communities we represent at home.

Currently HHC supports over 70 ministries each month. This includes overseas partners, A.I.M. workers, retired missionaries, home missions churches, and multicultural ministries. HHC is blessed to have produced several missionaries from their congregation that are currently serving in active missionary work in the field. Annually they host several of their deputizing missionaries, which allows the church to feel their passion and heartbeat for ministry firsthand.
A special thank you to our guest editor for this page, Phyllis Debnar.
